چکیده
Abstract The Shastry–Sutherland compound SrCu 2 (BO 3 ) constituting orthogonally coupled dimers harbors an S = 0 singlet ground state. confluence of strong interdimer interaction and frustration engenders a spectrum low-energy excitations including localized triplons as well triplet bound states. Their dynamics are controlled by external magnetic field temperature. Here, we employ high-field Raman spectroscopy to map the temperature evolution such bosonic composite quasiparticles on approaching 1/8 magnetization plateau. Our study unveils that thermal fluctuations show remarkably similar effects in melting states, but disparate their fine spectral shapes. This, together with anti-crossing two states intermediate B 10 − 16 T, is discussed terms correlated frustrated, interacting bosons.

متن کاملMagnetic nanopantograph in the SrCu2(BO3)2 Shastry-Sutherland lattice.
Magnetic materials having competing, i.e., frustrated, interactions can display magnetism prolific in intricate structures, discrete jumps, plateaus, and exotic spin states with increasing applied magnetic fields. When the associated elastic energy cost is not too expensive, this high potential can be enhanced by the existence of an omnipresent magnetoelastic coupling. Here we report experiment...
متن کاملCrystals of bound states in the magnetization plateaus of the Shastry-Sutherland model.
Using infinite projected entangled-pair states, we show that the Shastry-Sutherland model in an external magnetic field has low-magnetization plateaus which, in contrast to previous predictions, correspond to crystals of bound states of triplets, and not to crystals of triplets. The first sizable plateaus appear at magnetization 1/8, 2/15 and 1/6, in agreement with experiments on the orthogonal...
متن کاملCorrelated decay of triplet excitations in the Shastry-Sutherland compound SrCu2(BO3)2.
The temperature dependence of the gapped triplet excitations (triplons) in the 2D Shastry-Sutherland quantum magnet SrCu(2)(BO(3))(2) is studied by means of inelastic neutron scattering. The excitation amplitude rapidly decreases as a function of temperature, while the integrated spectral weight can be explained by an isolated dimer model up to 10 K. Analyzing this anomalous spectral line shape...
متن کاملMagnetization Plateau of Classical Ising Model on Shastry-Sutherland Lattice
We study the magnetization for the classical antiferromagnetic Ising model on the ShastrySutherland lattice using the tensor renormalization group approach. With this method, one can probe large spin systems with little finite-size effect. For a range of temperature and coupling constant, a single magnetization plateau at one third of the saturation value is found. We investigate the dependence...
